Iceland will be represented by Diljá and by the song Power at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2023. The decision was taken tonight in the final of the Söngvakeppnin.
Of the five finalists, only one decided to keep the lyrics of their songs in Icelandic: Langi Seli og Skuggarnir. Systur, last year’s winners, and Subwoolfer, representatives of Norway also in 2022, were the two special guests performing.
There were two stages of voting. In the first one, the jury and the public voted to elect two super finalists: Diljá and Langi Seli og Skuggarnir. They went on to the super final, and there the public alone voted and opted for Diljá with the song Power, which thus will represent Iceland at ESC 2023 next May.
