The 2023 edition of Benidorm Fest was presented this Tuesday. The grand final is scheduled for February 4. For the second year in a row, the event selects Spain’s representative in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC).
The presentation took place at a press conference held in the coastal city. The semifinals will be on January 31 and February 2, while the grand finale will be on February 4. Benidorm Fest 2023 will have 16 competing songs: two more than this year. It will be distributed in equal numbers between the two semifinals, and each one of them will give four places in the grand final (eight in total).
The renowned pop singer Mónica Naranjo was confirmed as one of the presenters. As far as the jury is concerned, the composer Nacho Cano will be the president. Among others, the panel will also have the musician and producer Christer Bjorkman. Once again, the jury will define 50% of the results, being the other 50% determined by the popular vote: 25% from the televote and 25% from the demoscopic vote.
An opening ceremony will be held on January 29, while in the Christmas season this year the Benidorm Fest will have a Christmas gala… and the invitation was made to Chanel to be the presenter.
