The Benidorm Fest will continue next year. Before tonight’s second semifinal, it was announced that the event, which has been selecting Spain’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), is here to stay.
The first edition took place in 2022, with the idea of reviving the old Benidorm Festival, also linking it to the ESC. RTVE’s director of communication, María Eizaguirre, confirmed the renewal of the Benidorm Fest for 2025 during a roundtable discussion this Thursday.
The director stated: “The fourth edition will definitely happen. What Juanma [Fernández, from the El Español newspaper] is asking, if I understand correctly, is whether it will be in Benidorm. Who has any doubt that there will be a fourth edition? Headline? There will be a fourth edition of the Benidorm Fest”.
The initial contract between the broadcaster, the City of Benidorm, and the Valencian Community was set to expire this year. Although there hasn’t been a formal announcement yet, the continuity is now confirmed, which is not surprising given its success.
